At Breezemount we  breed and show pedigree Angora goats. The size of the flock varies with the time of year, usually between 30 and 40. Ages range from new born kids to adult females some of which are over ten years old, all with their own unique characters.

The goats are expertly shorn twice a year and their beautiful mohair fleeces are carefully cleaned and graded to ensure that only the best quality is used for our Breezemount Farm knitwear range. Only the finest kid Mohair goes into our lacy scarves and hand crafted knitwear. The third and fourth clip is used for our socks and the yarn spun from our adult fleeces goes into our handwoven products.

Angora goats originate in the Far East and date back as far as Biblical Times, when their Mohair was highly prized. Today the main producers in the world are found in South Africa and Texas.

Breezemount is a working small holding with about five acres of grazing land laid out in paddocks.

The goats are wintered indoors from October until Easter.

Mohair is known as "The Diamond Fibre" for its lustre, strength and durability. Unlike sheeps wool, mohair fibres are smooth and do not trap bacteria which can cause foot odour - making it an ideal fibre for Breezemount Socks.
